Parents debate integration's social merits - When Rebekah Nelson moved to Louisville from Frankfort more than three years ago, it was in part to send her daughter to more diverse public schools.

Tax credits won't meet needs of all children - Although research consistently shows that private education offers little educational benefit to most students, ideologically driven lawmakers continue to push for legislation authorizing the use of tax credits to fund scholarships for private school tuition.

Some children left behind - Although their explanations differ, Illinois and Montana have both failed miserably in complying with the controversial federal education reform law.

The immigration answer? It's in Mexico's classrooms -  Mexican immigrants used to have higher-than-average levels of education, but today the average male Mexican migrant has lower-than-average education by Mexican standards.

Study says localities curb ed reform - The federal No Child Left Behind law has produced only limited educational improvement because local school officials have too much power to resist change, a nationwide series of studies has concluded.
